Zaineb Al-Faesly
Zaineb Al-Faesly
University of Ottawa

Zaineb Al-Faesly is a third-year undergraduate student studying Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa and she is loving every second of it! Zaineb spent a summer working with the University of Ottawa’s Outreach Team as a bilingual counselor for the Adventures in Engineering and Science summer camp. That summer, she engaged youth in STEM related fields, worked with Syrian refugee children and aboriginal kids of Kanesatake while delivering outreach activities. Ms. Al-Faesly worked as an instructor with the University of Ottawa’s Makermobile visiting schools, community centres and festivals delivering workshops in robotics, 3D printing and laser cutting to audiences of diverse age groups. Having an interest in teaching, she also worked as a Project Manager for the Introduction to Product Development and Management for Engineers and Computer Scientists course at the Faculty of Engineering and delivered lab sessions, assisted in trainings, provided guidance and provided assessments on the performance of each student. When it comes to extracurricular, Zaineb is a mentor working with a group to develop an integrated therapeutic and educational app for autistic children. Within her University, she is part of the Evolving Engineering team of Engineers without Borders as Director of Engineering Outreach promoting engineering across the campus. Ms. Al-Faesly finds fulfillment in observing people grow and seeing them thrive, she wants to be a part of the process.
