Engineering Programs

The University of Regina's Faculty of Engineering is and will continue to be a dynamic, recognized centre of innovation and creativity dedicated to entrepreneurial leadership in lifelong learning, research and development enthusiastically working in partnership with the local and global communities.

The Faculty's mission is to provide an excellent "systems approach" to engineering education for our students. Each program has a unique implementation of the systems theme, founded on the common underlying goal to produce engineering graduates with not only a strong base of technical knowledge but also with the breadth of complementary skills that successful professional engineers should have in the workplace.

The University of Regina offers accredited Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in:

The Electronic Systems Engineering undergraduate program at the University of Regina is a nine-semester program that is designed to develop engineers who can apply skills in electronics and computers in the design and operation of products or systems for handling information.

The Environmental Systems Engineering Program teaches the application of Systems Engineering principles to environmental problems associated with water resources, transportation, industrial development and waste management.

The Industrial Systems Engineering undergraduate program at the University of Regina is a nine-semester program that is designed to develop engineers who can organize and effectively utilize the total resources of modern manufacturing and process industries - the materials, machinery, facilities, people and capital. ISE students are trained to recognize the holistic, inter-disciplinary nature of real-world engineering problems.

The Petroleum Systems Engineering undergraduate program at the University of Regina is a nine-semester program that teaches evaluation, design, application, and management with respect to petroleum engineering. Areas of study include evaluation of oil and gas reserves, surface collection, reservoir production, and oil and gas treatment, and adaptation of technologies to extraction of other important minerals. Advanced computer utilization and automation are also key components of the program. Petroleum Systems Engineers also contribute to activities such as pollution remediation and greenhouse gas reduction.

The Software Systems Engineering undergraduate program at the University of Regina is a nine-semester program designed to give students the knowledge to analyze, design, and develop software operating, on many types of computers and microprocessors. Highlights of the program include construction and engineering of software systems, Internet systems, transaction systems, interactive multimedia systems, and management and information systems; industrial applications; corporate software process; and software project management.

The University of Regina Offers the following Graduate Studies:

PSE Graduate Program
The Petroleum Systems Engineering program in the Faculty of Engineering offers graduate programs focused on conducting research in the areas of enhanced oil recovery (EOR), reservoir modeling and simulation, heavy oil recovery through SAGD and VAPEX processes, miscible and immiscible displacement, fluid-rock interactions, and underground storage of carbon dioxide in depleted or partially-depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs. These graduate programs lead to masters and doctoral degrees.

ESE Graduate Program
The Electronic Systems Engineering program in the Faculty of Engineering offers graduate programs specializing in telecommunications, electronic devices, microelectronics, software engineering, knowledge systems, and signal processing leading to masters and doctoral degrees.

EVSE Graduate Program
The Environmental Systems Engineering program in the Faculty of Engineering offers graduate programs in water and environmental engineering, and transportation systems engineering leading to masters and doctoral degrees.

ISE Graduate Program
The Industrial Systems Engineering program in the Faculty of Engineering offers graduate programs specializing in process and energy, mechanical, and industrial engineering leading to masters and doctoral degrees. Research in process and energy engineering is directed towards horizontal drilling, gas separation, energy planning and the environment. The mechanical portion of the graduate program emphasizes materials, mechanical design, material wear behavior, welding and fluid mechanics. The industrial component of the graduate program emphasizes manufacturing systems, operations research and technology management.

For graduate students, the Faculty offers the following degrees in all programs:

• Doctor of Applied Science
• Master of Applied Science
• Master of Engineering
• Master of Engineering (Co-operative Education)
