In May, 2011, nine young women from across Canada were honoured as the 2011 recipients of Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation (CEMF) Scholarships, and were fortunate enough to receive their accolades at an Awards Ceremony which took place at the Engineers Canada Annual General Meeting in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The winners were celebrated by many of their future engineering colleagues, including CEMF President Huntley O’Connor and members of the CEMF Board of Directors.
CEMF Scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding female engineering students who demonstrate qualities of leadership and active participation in their communities. These nine women represent the very best and brightest the field of engineering has to offer, and each stands as a positive role model for young girls who wish to pursue careers in engineering.
The winners, Jennifer Nafziger, Emilie Lapointe, Jessica Steeves, Rita Laith, Audrey Siebert-Timmer, Kim Nguyen, Vivian Hui, Martine Blouin and Erin Flanagan, were able to attend this significant event commemorating their success due to the generosity and support of our longstanding CEMF Scholarship Partner, Vale, and CEMF Diamond Sponsorship Partner Kinross. CEMF also wishes to acknowledge our other sponsorship partners, whose continued support allowed these young women to be recognized in a manner commensurate with their achievements:
