Suzelle Barrington, Ph.D., ing.
President |
Suzelle was born in Winchester, Ontario and raised on a dairy farm in eastern Ontario. She is married with three children – her husband is a dairy and cash crop producer in Eastern Quebec. She is currently a full professor for the Departments of Agriculture and Biosystems
Engineering at the Macdonald Campus of McGill University. Suzelle was the first woman in Canada and the fifth in the world to obtain a Ph. D. Degree in Agricultural Engineering.
She is the 2005 recipient of the award for Support of Women in
the Engineering Profession. |

Huntley O’Connor, P.Eng.
Vice-President |
Huntley O’Connor is a Senior
Structural Engineer with over thirty years experience in the
design of structures. Huntley has a Diploma in Building
Construction, and a Diploma in Structural Engineering from the
College of Arts, Science and Technology in Kingston, Jamaica, as
well as a B.Sc., Civil and postgraduate Diploma in Engineering
from the University of Manitoba. He is married with two sons.
Huntley is currently the Branch Manager of the GENIVAR office in
Regina, Saskatchewan. GENIVAR is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm with
offices across Canada. |

Deborah Wolfe, P.Eng.
Treasurer |
Deborah is the Director, Education, Outreach and Research,
Engineers Canada. She received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a construction engineer before joining CCPE. Her work centres on accreditation of Canadian university engineering programs and research into other country’s educational systems, liaison with industry and groups within the engineering profession, and research on the demographics of the engineering profession in general. |

Bob Cross, B.Sc.
Executive Director
and Secretary |
Bob is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada. He has over 35 years of experience in association management, the federal government and
business. His company, Megram Consulting Services Ltd.
with a full-time staff of nine, is one of the largest
association management companies in Canada, currently serving
seven national associations including CEMF. Megram also
edits and produces two national magazines and numerous
newsletters and designs, hosts and maintains websites. He has
been happily married for 40 years, has four grown children and
eight grand children, skis, collects Canadiana antiques with his wife
and is trying to train a new dog. |

Isadora van Riemsdijk, P.Eng |
Isadora has a B.
Eng. in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science from
McGill University. With over 15 years of experience in the
production of steel and materials, she is a Senior Research
Associate in developing ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s Automotive
products in Hamilton. Previously, she was a Process Engineer
and Supervisor of Quality Assurance at Ivaco Rolling Mills in
l’Orignal, Ontario and an engineer at Superior Technical
Ceramics in St Albans, Vermont. Isadora shares her passion for
her field by teaching continuing education courses in metallurgy
at the University of McMaster — she shares her love of the
outdoors as a active Girl Guide Leader committed to encouraging
confidence and leadership in girls and women. |

Ross Haggart, P.Eng. |
Ross, a Carleton University graduate in Electrical Engineering specializing in computer systems, is President of Olorin
Enterprises Inc., a company providing Management Consulting
services. He has many years of experience in the design of
computer systems and in business systems consulting. Ross
continues to be very active in various PEO and CCPE committees. |

Christine MacKinnon, P.Eng. |
Christine is the
corporate planning coordinator for the government of Prince
Edward Island, responsible for supporting corporate and
intergovernmental initiatives. She is a graduate in Agricultural
Engineering from McGill and the University of Saskatchewan.
Christine has experience in design and ventilation of
agricultural buildings, air quality, environmental protection,
public policy, organizational development and as a strategic
planning consultant. An active partner in the family dairy
farm, Christine and her husband have two children.
She is also a 4H leader and back-up soccer coach. Currently the
President of the Association of Professional Engineers of PEI,
Christine has been involved with APEPEI Committees and as a CEMF
scholarship judge. |

Hiromi Matsui, M.Sc. |
Hiromi is Director
of Diversity and Recruitment, Faculty of Applied Sciences at
Simon Fraser University. She chairs the Employment Equity
Committee in Applied Sciences and works with the Gender
Committees in Computing and Engineering Science. She holds a
Master’s degree from the London School of Economics and
is Co-Chair of the Women in SETT (Science, Engineering,
Technology and Trades) project for CCWESTT. She completed her
term as a member of APEGBC Council in 2005 and is a member of
the JADE Advisory Committee for Anne Condon’s NSERC/GM Chair for
Women in Science and Engineering. |

Cheryl Sandercock, P.Eng. |
Cheryl is a
Director of Scotia Waterous, the energy merger and
acquisition division of the Bank of Nova Scotia. She holds
a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Schulich School of
Engineering at the University of Calgary, and has over 15
years’ diverse experience in the oil and gas industry.
Throughout her career she has been active in the promotion
of science-related careers to students and as an advocate
for women in these fields.

John G. Evans, P.Eng. |
John graduated from the Nova Scotia Technical College, Halifax,
Nova Scotia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
As Chief Engineer with Fortis Inc. he is responsible for the
growth of Fortis’ small hydro portfolio through acquisition or
development. As such, he currently serves as Vice President of
both CNE Energy Inc. and Belize Electric Company Limited. In
addition, he provides advice on utility related matters. Prior
to this, he served as Vice President of one of Fortis’ electric
utilities.
John is currently a Director of the Canadian Hydropower
Association and is a past President (Chairman) of the
Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of
Newfoundland and the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers.
He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic
Engineers. |

Tiffany Edgecombe,
E.I.T. |
Tiffany is a PhD
Candidate in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the
Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
from the University of Alberta in her hometown of Edmonton, and
her master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s
University. Her current research is in sports biomechanics,
specifically in the investigation of subject-specific selection
protocols for alpine skis. In addition to her love of winter
sports, she is a nationally ranked water skier, and recently
completed her first marathon. Tiffany’s commitment to promoting
women in science and engineering was recognized by the CEMF when
they awarded her with the 2007 Claudette MacKay-Lassonde
Graduate Scholarship. |

Darlene Whalen, P.Eng. |
Darlene is a graduate of
Memorial University in Civil Engineering with a Master’s degree
in Environmental Engineering and Applied Science. Prior to
being appointed as the full-time Vice-Chair of the Board of
Commissioners of Public Utilities of Newfoundland and Labrador
in May 2000, she coordinated engineering co-op programs and
lectured at Memorial. She is Past President of the Association of
Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland (APEGN).
Born in Corner Brook, Darlene is happily married with one daughter and
one son. |
Jane Gill, CA |
Jane is a Chartered
Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Haskayne
School of Business at the University of Calgary. She is
the Manager, Corporate Strategy for TransCanada. She is a
Director on the Board and Chair of the Audit Committee for the
TransCanda Credit Union. |
Alana Gauthier, P.Eng. |
Alana has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from
Queen’s University. She is a Senior Project Engineer at GENIVAR
in Winnipeg. Alana has over 15 years
of
industrial experience in chemical, process, environmental and
quality control engineering. Prior to consulting, she was a
Project Metallurgist in the Refinery at Inco in Thompson,
Manitoba. Alana is Past Chair of the Thompson chapter for the
Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists
of
the
Province
of
Manitoba
(APEGM).
She is happily married with a daughter and a son.

Reynald Du Berger, M.Sc.,ing. |
Reynald Du Berger is
retired from Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, where he has
been a full professor in engineering geology since it was
established. He has always been involved in organizing
activities for secondary schools to attract more students to the
engineering profession. His research interests were mainly in
the fields of applied seismology and ground water geophysics. He
is currently involved with the Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches
Section of the Order of Engineers of Québec where he is
responsible for promoting the profession. He is still involved
in seismology with the operation of a regional seismographic
station located on his property near Quebec City. |
