As you know, the Foundation
was formed in 1990 in commemoration of the women who lost
their lives at Ecole Polytechnique on December 6, 1989. The
Foundation’s mandate was to provide opportunities for women
to become engineers.
A scholarship program was launched, and over the past two
decades, it has grown from providing six scholarships to 16
with support from major industries, smaller businesses and
individual donors. Our mandate has also been expanded to
include the promotion of engineering generally in Canada and
as a career choice for women.
Today, we are proud to say
that over 100 women studying engineering at accredited
Canadian universities have received a Foundation scholarship
at all levels of study – undergraduate, master’s and PhD.
And it seemed fitting that
the best way to celebrate 20 years of supporting women in
engineering was to help even more.
A new 20th Anniversary
$10,000 Scholarship is being offered to women entering
engineering at the undergraduate level, based on leadership,
extracurricular activities and ability to act as a role
model for the profession.
